Kirkby Stpehen OTM & Cast Cows Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their sale of cast and OTM cattle when 30 head were forward.

Topping the sale a £4012.02 was a 1116kg (359.5p/kg) Limousin cast bull from Messrs Batty, Dry Evers Cottage, Maulds Meaburn.

Messrs Raine & Davidson, Thorney Gale, Stainmore sold a 908kg cast British blue bull to make 379.5p/kg totalling £3445.86.

Messrs Tarn, Step Ends Farm sold a thirteen year old Limousin cast bull to total £2515.76 weighing 869kg at £289.5p/kg.

Topping the pence per kilo at 425.5p was a British Blue cow from Messrs Alderson, Howgill Grange totalling £2625.34.

Cows topped at £2824.25 and 357.5p for a 790kg ten year old Limousin cow from Messrs Marston, Easegill Head, Kirkby Stephen.

 Messrs Bland, Cotegill sold a Limousin cow to make £2641.14 at 804kg (328.5p/kg).

Messrs Pedley, Oak Tree Farm, Barbon sold a seven year old Limousin cross cow to make £2639.07.

Dairy cows topped at £2238.61 for a 866kg at 258.5p/kg for a five year old Friesian cow from Messrs Beck, Town Foot, Longdale. With this home also selling a six year old Friesian cow making £2024.10 and 259.5p at 780kg.

Messrs Chappelhow, Beckstones, Newbiggin on Lune topped dairy cows at 267.5p/kg for a thirty six month old Friesian.

All classes of cast cows, bulls and OTMs were a flying trade with an overall sale average of £2187.33 and 305.83p/kg was achieved.
