Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 16th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store lambs and breeding sheep at Borderway Mart.  The store lambs continue to land in Borderway with an average of £114 being achieved.  Topping went to a Dutch Texel from Messrs Armstrong, Brampton selling to £156 and selling a pair of Suffolks to the same price.  Messrs Saunders sold Texels to £138 and Cheviots to £130.  Messrs McKeen, Thornhill sold Blackfaced wethers to £118.  Livesay Farming sold Roussins lambs to £141, and Easycare sheep to £129 for 34. 

Ewes and lambs were once again in strong demand with most units being  £6-£8 dear per life on the week.  A total sale average of £136.94 was achieved with top price going to Messrs Gilhespy, Tedcastle selling a 3 shear Texel with a smart ram lamb to £190 per life.  The same home sold Mules with single Texel lambs to £158 and pairs to £136.  Messrs Murray, Penrith sold a sweet Berrichon 2 shear with 2 lambs to £118 per life.  Dorpers from Messrs Skelton, Cockermouth sold to a £100 per life.
