Pearl From Broughton Shines Like a Diamond  

Dairy cattle sold exceptionally well in the March Borderway Monthly dairy Day sale with trade topping at £3000 to average £2448 for milking heifers.    

The sale was sponsored by Agri-King with the top price coming from the Holden family from Broughton-In-Furness  with a tremendous young heifer sired by Delta Steam PP Red.  Broughton Pearl Red sold for £3000 with her dam being a high production cow with lactations over 13000kgs.   

The Holdens also sold the second top price heifer Broughton Pearl 9, a Delta Abundant P daughter that sold for £2800.

Highest priced cow at £2850 was the fresh second calver Kaemuir Highlight Yvonne from the Orr Family. Calved in February and giving 38 litres she is by Denovo Highlight. The Orrs sold 9 fresh cows and heifers to average £2538.89.

Selling for £2800 was Pacific Retrolook Liz GP82, a fresh second calver from Nether Pratis Farming Company. Sired by Westcoast Retrolook she sold giving 46 kg a day.

Ayrshire trade topped at £2400 twice for fresh second calvers, both giving 35kg a day from the ongoing Halmyre Urr Ayrshire dispersal.

In-Calf heifers topped at £2500 for YoungBro Bumblebee Lucy who was consigned by Ed & Linda Wilson from Petteril Hill Farm near Carlisle.  She was sired by Progenesis Bumblebee and bred from a Redcarpet dam with production records over 15,000kgs.  Three in-calf heifers form Petteril Hill Farm sold to average £2433.33.
