SALE OF STORE CATTLE

WEDNESDAY 18^th MARCH 2026

On Wednesday 18^th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle. A very mixed bag of quality forward. Trade would be very selective with some of the very biggest and best dearer on the week normal run of the mill cattle good to sell and plainer less types harder to cash. Still a great sale average of £2046.03 overall. Topping overall was a 21 month old Limousin cross from Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna at £2880 and another at £2820. Aberdeen Angus crosses from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna to £2740. Messrs Moffat, Stone House also sold top Simmental cross to £2740 and best Charolais cross to £2680. Heifers saw a top of £2360 three times firstly for two Limousin crosses from Messrs Baxter, Moss Side, Carlisle and secondly for a Charolais cross from Messrs Fisher Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas. Messrs Fishwick, Thornship, Penrith had Limousin crosses to £2340 and Messrs Graham, Carleton Hill, Carlisle sold best British Blue crosses to £2340 also.

Less black and whites forward this week and a lot smaller on the whole saw a top of £1860 go to Messrs Tiffin, Whom Head, Penrith for a Holstein Friesian.
