On Wednesday 25 ^th March Harrison & Hetherington’s conducted the weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks. A smaller show of a total of 265 being forward to average £1573.36. a much larger ringside of buyers ensured cattle remained a recent rate. A very large show of dairy bred cattle were forward with all classes keenly bid for. A smaller show of bulls were forward with 65 going onto average £1752. Topping the sale was a pair of big Charolais from Messrs Tattersall, Westerkirk selling to £2800. Limousins topped at £2300 for a young bull from Messrs Dalgliesh, Lockerbie. A great run of 11 Aberdeen Angus bulls forward from Messrs Grierson, New Abbey topping at £2240. Herefords topped at £1800 from J Kirkwood, Dumfries. Steers went on to average £1628 with top price going to Messrs Saunders, Newton Stewart selling a year old Charolais to £2130. The same home sold steers to £1980 & £1890 x2. Limousin steers topped at £2060 from Northumberland vendor Philip Tindale who sold 17 11 month Angus & Limousin steers to £1750. South Devons were safely sold to £1940 from Messrs Panzak, Dumfries. British Blue topped at £1840 from Messrs Barron, Thirsk who sold 9 to average £1804.44. heifers topped at 2360 for a Limousin from Ian Armstrong, Hethersgill. Messrs Henshall, Lockerbie sold 2 Limousin heifers to £2280 & £2120. Aberdeen Angus heifers topped at £1890 again from Ian Armstrong, Shankfield. Herefords topped at £1630 for 4 from Messrs Carruthers, Penrith. British Blue Heifers bid to £1670 from Craig Routledge, Netherton who sold 19 to £1613 at 9/10 months old.
