Borderway Prime & Cast Sheep

PRIME SHEEP:  On Monday 30th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of prime sheep , 618 ewes and 3667 hoggs were forward today with all classes a fantastic trade once again, the ewes kicked things off in fine fashion with a ton of £400 paid for Texel ewes from Messrs Leonard, Pettigo with the whole sale averaging £179.99 the heavy ewes once again were well sold , however the leaner and lighter hill types were absolutley off the clock again, 3667 hoggs forward this week sold exceptionally well, being well in keeping with recent trades , this said, the tail end and lean types would see a slight resistance than of late, the sale topped at £300 for an outstanding Beltex Hogg from Messrs Corry Mcwhirter, lLockerbie with Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh selling 11 Beltex at 575p to claim the top ppk on the day, heavies often sold well above £4 a kilo and export types were often 4.20-435 for hill sheep and 435 plus for continental and Suffolk types.
