Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart Held Their Weekly Sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday Evening when 2,485 sheep where forward consisting of 2,025 Prime Hoggs and 460 Cast Sheep.

Topping the sale at £255 where a pen of nine 41kg (622p/kg) Beltex cross hoggs from Messrs Foster, Fordham Farm, York.

This home also sold a 45kg to £253, a pen of thirteen 44kg at £251 (570.5p/kg), two pens of twenty and seventeen 45kg at £245, a pen of eight 41kg at £245 (597.6p/kg), a pen of eight 46kg Texel cross hoggs at £240, twenty 48kg at £238.50 and a pen of twenty two 46kg at £236.50.

The consignment of 162 Beltex cross hoggs from this home sold to average 46kg £237.77 (516.8p/kg).

JoJo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York topped the sale at 632.1p/kg for a pen of nineteen 39kg Beltex cross hoggs which made £246.50, JoJo also topped her run £249 for 50kg hoggs, and sold two pens of sixteen 40kg at £243 (607.5p/kg) a pen of twenty two 40kg at £238 (595p/kg) and a pen of twelve 39kg at £227.50 (583.3p/kg).

The consignment of 166 hoggs from Boscar Flats sold to average 42.3kg £230.11 (543.6p/kg).

Good heavy hoggs where in strong demand with 60kg selling to £240 from Messrs Hodgson, Green Farm, Shap, with this home also selling a pen of five Mules to £203.

Texel hoggs sold to £231 for a pen of five 59kg from Messrs Smith, Kelmore Hill Farm, Workington with this home topping the Suffolk hoggs at £220 for a pen of 60kg.

Messrs Foster, York sold a pen of twenty three 51kg Texel cross hoggs to make £223.50.

Hill Cheviot hoggs topped at £205 for a pen of nineteen 49kg from Messrs Bell, Bridge Farm, York with this home also selling a pen of thirty five 47kg Hill Cheviots to make £197.50 (420.2p/kg).

Hill Cheviots also topped at 436p/kg for a pen of seventeen 43kg which made £187.50 from Messrs Turnbull, Boghall, Fife.

Messrs Kiernan, Vale Farm, Preston sold a pen of seven 48kg Hill Cheviots to make £200 with two pens of twenty three and twenty 44kg making £188 (427.3p/kg) and a pen of nineteen 43kg Hill Cheviots making £185.50 (431.4p/kg) from this home.

Blackfaced hoggs sold to £192 for 50kg from Messrs Taylor, Redlands Bank.

Messrs Allinson, Windygate sold a pen of twenty four 44kg Blackfaced hoggs to make £181.50 with another pen of twenty three 40kg Blackfaced hoggs making £170 (425p/kg) from this home.

Once again Kirkby Stephen prime sheep ring bucked the decline in trade at the lather end of last week and so far this week, with an unbelieve SQQ average of 448p/kg and an overall average of 425p/kg and £195 being achieved with over 500 Hill and Mule hoggs included in this.

Twelve pens and 129 hoggs sold between £240 and £255.

Fifty pens and 344 hoggs sold between £220 and £255.

61 hoggs sold between 600 – 632p/kg.

Twenty seven pens and 258 hoggs sold between 500 – 632p/kg.
