Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the sale a £2379.30 and 360.5p/kg was a 660kg British Blue cross steer from Messrs Beck, Townfoot, Longdale.

This home sold another 570kg British Blue cross steer to make £2009.25 352.5p/kg.

Limousin cross cows sold to £2324.70 (283.5p/kg) for a 820kg from Messrs Wharton, Highfield Farm, Drybeck.

Messrs Procter, Hillcrest, Great Musgrave sold a 610kg Limousin cross cow to make 350.5p/kg totalling £2138.05

Cast Bulls sold to £2377.83 and 253.5p/kg for a 938kg nine year old Simmental from Messrs Tallentire, High Griseburn, Asby.

Dairy Cows topped per head at £2329.40 for a 760kg Holstein from Messrs Chippendale, Wharton Hall, Kirkby Stephn with a 643kg Holstein/Friesian topping the pence per kilo at 317.5p totalling £2041.53 from Messrs Barrow, Helm Farm, Ormside.

All classes of cast cows were a flying trade being the dearest recently seen with an overall average of 295.9p/kg and £1970.41 been achieved.

The next sale of cast cows at Kirkby Stephen will be on Monday 20^th April.
