“Lockerbie hits the spot yet again! A red hot trade today with a strong Easter lift! The cattle hunt lead buyers from all over Scotland and the North of England into Lockerbie to witness the almighty record-breaking entry of 625 head, a show the market hasn’t seen in over a decade! If this is the shape of the spring trade then the season ahead looks very bright indeed! The sale topped at a whopping 566ppkg from Messrs Scott, Dinley.”

Today’s highlights

• Messrs Brown, Mosshead had 20 10m old Limousin bullocks to average £2133 or top at £2320
• Messrs Goldie, Greenfield had 45 9-11m old Charolais heifers to average £1715 and top at £2400
• Messrs Robson, Laverockhall had 12m old champion heifer to £2400 and average £2080
• Messrs Burgess, The Bush made a return to top at £2300
• Messrs Wilson, Belzies topped at £2480 and averaged £2338 for his pen
• Messrs Jardine, Newbigging had 50 AA 12m old bullcoks to average £1800

Topping the trade today at £2480 was an outstanding Limousin heifer from Messrs Wilson, Belzies the same good home also reached £2450 for another Limousin heifer. £2400 was hit three times first for the overall champion from Messrs Robson, Laverockhall, Messrs Dodd, Tungergarth Mains for an 11 month Limousin heifer and finally by Messrs Goldie, Greenfield hit £2400 for a Charolais heifer
