BREEDING AND STORE SHEEP

MONDAY 13^TH APRIL 2026

On Monday 13^th April the weekly sale of store lambs & breeding sheep took place in Borderway. Very much toward the end of the season as a sale average of £106 was achieved. The sale topped at £180 for a pair of texels from Chelcea Brough, Frizington. The same home sold Beltex to £174, M/s Cadzow, Tranent sold a pen of 4 Beltex to £160. A show of 350 ewes & lambs followed with a show of sheep forward with “farming” outfits the call of the day. Topping was M/s Watson, Kirkbride, for a super run of Blue Texel ewes & shearlings with twin pedigree lambs to £175 a life. Suffolks topped at £130 per life for some singles with single texel lambs. Messrs Watson, Seascale brought a super run of young mule sheep with twin Suffolk lambs to £122 per life. Beltex ewes topped at £150 a life for a aged ewe with a single lamb from Messrs Walton, Goodlie Hill Cottage. Texel ewes with single lambs sold to £162 from Chelsea Brough, Frizington. A total sale average of £116.47 being achieved leaving vendors delighted.
