Borderway Store Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 15th April 2026 Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle.  

A good entry of 424 store cattle at Borderway’s weekly sale whereby more heifers were forward and a pleasing offering overall was evident, resulting in a healthy overall average of £1956.78. Top overall of £2640 went to Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna for a 24 month old Limousin cross steer. Next best was an Aberdeen Angus at £2580 also from Messrs Moffat. Charolais sold to £2580 from Messrs Magney, Greenwrae, Gretna. Messrs Moffat, Stonehouse sold 12 to average a fantastic £2509.

Heifers saw a top of £2600 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Nixon, Huntershall, Wigton. Messrs Henshall, Sarkshields, Lockerbie sold two pure Limousins to £2480 for 21 months old. Dairy bred British Blues sold £2390 from Messrs Graham, Carleton Hall, Carlisle and to £2360 for more from Messrs Stephenson, Winter Tarn Farm, Penrith.

Dairy bred steers sold to £2400 for a Montbeliarde from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna and £2030 for a Fleckvieh from Messrs Crichton, Limekilns, Annan and finally to £1970 for a Holstein Friesian from Messrs Dean, Rigg Head, Carlisle.
