Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart Held Their Weekly Sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday Evening when 3,056 sheep where forward consisting of 2,541 Prime Hoggs and 515 Cast Sheep.

Topping the sale at £276 where a pair of 77kg Texel cross hoggs from Messrs Mark, Sunny Gill Farm, Penrith with this home also selling a pen of 77kg to £242.

Topping at 602.5p/kg where a pen of five 40kg Beltex cross hoggs which sold for £241 from JoJo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York.

This home also sold a pen of four 51kg Beltex cross hoggs to make £255, 57kg to £250, a pen of twenty three 41kg to £240 (585.4p/kg), a pen of twenty one 40kg at £237 (592.5p/kg), a pen of seven 42kg at £240 (571.4p/kg), a pen of six 47kg at £240, fifteen 42kg at £230 (547.6p/kg) and eighteen 40kg at £226 (565p/kg).

The consignment of 165 Beltex & Texel cross hoggs from Boscar Flats sold to average 42.9kg, £230.14 (536.7p/kg).

Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown, Longtown sold a pair of 48kg Hoggs to £240.

Rouge cross hoggs sold to £237 for 50kg from Messrs Fell, Chapel Farm, Keswick.

A pen of four 57kg Suffolk cross hoggs sold to £215 from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown with this home also selling a pen of twenty eight 52kg Suffolks to £201.50, and a pen of twenty five 49kg at £197.50 (403.1p/kg).

Hill Cheviot hoggs topped at £207 for a pen of sixteen 56kg from the same home, also selling a pen of twenty five 43kg Hill Cheviots to make £186.50.

Messrs Kiernan, Vale Farm, Preston topped the Suffolk cross hoggs at 437.8p/kg for a pen of four 45kg which made £197. With this home selling a pen of twenty 46kg Hill Cheviots to make £196 (426.1p/kg), a pen of fifteen 44kg at £190.50 (433p/kg) fifteen 44kg at £189.50 (430.7p/kg) and a pen of twenty 45kg at £191.50 (425.6p/kg).

Messrs Birkbeck, Castle Hill, Soulby sold a pen of six 40kg Hill Cheviots to make £175.50 and top at 438.8p/kg.

Blackfaced hoggs topped at £195 for a pen of twenty nine 54kg from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown with this home also selling a pen of thirty eight 48kg to £188.50, a pen of thirty nine 45kg to £187 (415.6p/kg), fourty one 44kg at £186 (422.7p/kg), and topping the Blackfaced at 423.9p/kg for a pen of thirty nine 44kg which made £186.50.

Mule hoggs sold to £194 for 50kg from Messrs Towers, Curwen Hill, Lancaster. With this home also topping the mules at 395.5p/kg for a pen of six 44kg making £174.

Swaledale hoggs topped at £180 for a pen of 70kg tup hoggs from Messrs Akrigg, Manor House Farm, Skipton with this home also selling a pen of six 54kg Swaledales to make £170.

Swaledales also topped at 360p/kg for a pen of sixteen 40kg which made £144 from Far Close Farm, Knock.

An SQQ average of 415.48p/kg and an overall average of 392.62p/kg for 2541 which includes 760 horned hoggs, and 1410 horned, hill and mule hoggs.

Sixty one pens and 335 hoggs sold between £210 - £276.
