Borderway Store Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 22nd April 2026 Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle with another large entry of 532 forward selling in line with the national trend.  All bigger and most fleshed cattle would see the biggest decline on the week, all younger and longer keep cattle would still sell very well.  The overall show today would be very poor with lots of small cattle with big ages and a larger entry of heifer than steers.

Topping the sale overall was a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton at £2420.  Messrs Beattie, Shield Green Carlisle sold a Limousin cross to £2380.  British Blues to £2340 and £2310 from Messrs McKie, Lawrence Holme, Wigton.

Steers topped at £2320 for three Aberdeen Angus crosses from Messrs Thompson, Horsegills, Carlisle. British Blues to £2280 from Messrs Studholme, Ashview, Wigton and a 33 month old Limousin cross to £2280 from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close, Carlisle.  A 15 month  old Limousin cross steer from Messrs Withers, Upper Hundalee, Jedburgh sold to a top of £2200.

Dairy bred steers sold to a top of £2190 for a Montbeliarde from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna.  Friesians to £2180 from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close and £2140 for Holsteins Friesian also from Greenwrae, Gretna.
