Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 6^th May Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a healthy show of 252 forward.  Top price today was £1060 from Messrs Nash, Philgown for a Limousin bull.  British Blues sold to £1000 for a cracking bull calf from Coopan Carse Farms.  This home also sold to £980 and £910 for Aberdeen Angus bulls. Messrs Rayson, Roansbank sold to £980 for same breed.  Wadsworth Farming topped at £930 for Blue bulls, Turnbull Farming sold to £890 again for Blue bulls.  Young calves on milk were best to sell with 4 week old Blue bulls to £770 from Messrs Gardhouse, Nook House. Messrs Lochhead, Kedar sold a pair of fantastic Blue bulls at 3 weeks to £750 with another at £740.  Calves at 3-6 weeks old regularly sold over £600.

Coopan Carse Farms topped the heifers at £980 for a British Blue.  This home also sold to £940.  Wadsworth Farming sold Blue heifers to £910 (x2).  Messrs Nash, Philgowan sold Limousin heifers to £900.  This home also old Simmentals to £850.  Messrs Sharp, Wolsty Hall sold 2 month Charolais to £810.  Messrs Lochhead, Kedar had 5 week old Blue heifers to £755.

Holstein sold to £550 from Messrs Vance, Bridgehouse.  Messrs Wood, Groundycroft also sold to the same price.  Messrs Gemmell, Brownfield sold to £520.  3- 6 week Black and whites regularly sold between £200-£300.
