Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

T he weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks took place in Ring 4 once again with an entry of 357 being forward. The show consisted of a reduced number of bulls however, grass stirks were forward in abundance.

Bulls topped at £2200 for a pair of Angus bulls from Stephen L Medley, Prospect Grange. Limousins topped at £2100 from The Herries Farms with this home selling bulls to £1960 and £1930. Dairy bred British Blues topped at £1370 from Messrs Maughan, Asby Mill.

An entry of 137 steers were forward to average £1354.96. Topping the sale went to Messrs McKie, Newton Stewart selling a single Limousin to £2040. The same home also to £1940, £1890 and £1860. Angus steers topped at £1660 from Messrs Carr, Brackenhill and £1460, this home also topped the Blue steers to £1600.  Beef Shorthorns topped at £1500 from Messrs Robson, Merryshield and Blondes to £1690. Charolais topped at £1420 from Messrs Routledge, Brackenhill Rigg.

A show of 184 heifers to average £1260.22 topping went to Limousin £1710 from Messrs Stagg, Longrow. Angus heifers topped at £1440 from Messrs Davidson, Lockerbie. Beef Shorthorns topped at £1660 for a pen of 5 from Messrs Robson, Merryshield. Blues sold to the same the same price from Messrs Kerr, Nether Oakshaw.
