SALE OF STORE CATTLE

TUESDAY 5^th May 2026

Tuesday 5^th April saw the monthly sale of store cattle in Middleton market. A catalogued entry of 72 were forward going on to average £1680 when the national trend of store cattle has seen reports of less. Middleton once again becomes a leading figure in the north of England. Before the sale and show took place with this years Judge Alan Hall stepping up to the task. It was decided that the first prize Limousin heifer from Peter Walton, Swarthymere would be awarded the championship latter selling to £1790. The reserve champion was awarded to the Limousin steer from John White, Rigg Farm which later sold to £1800. Steers topped at £1940 for a single steer from Messrs Watson, Strand Foot. British Blue topped at £1730 from Simon Bently, Lanehead whilst also selling heifers to £1650. John White sold a super British Blue Heifer to £1740.
