Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart, held their annual New Fair Prize Show and Sale of Breeding outfits.
Topping the sale at £205 per life and £410 per outfit were a pen of five Beltex cross shearlings with lambs at foot from Messrs Browell & Sons, Quarry House Farm, Hexham and was purchased by Messrs Dent, Elm House, Appleby.
The first prize pen of continental hoggs was awarded to a pen of Texel cross hoggs with lambs at foot from Ben Atkinson, Lady Anne Drive, Brough which went on to sell for £200 per life, £400 per outfit.
Our pre sale show was kindly judge by Phil Armstrong, Moorriggs, Penrith who had some fantastic pens of sheep put before him.
The first prize pen of ten Mule hoggs with lambs at foot sold to £170 per head (£340 per outfit) from Messrs Lancaster, Roseleigh, Appleby selling to the judge. This home also received the second prize rosette with another pen of ten Mule hoggs with lambs at foot also to make £170 per head (£340 per outfit) to Messrs Gill, Barnard Castle.
Messrs Pedley, High Ploughlands, Little Musgrave sold Suffolk hogg with lambs at foot to make £190 per life (£380 an outfit) selling to Messrs Dent, Elm House.
Homebred Texel cross Mule hoggs with lambs sold to £175 per head (£350 per outfit) and £170 per head (£340 per outfit) from Messrs Dixon, Harley Castle, Kirkby Stephen with both pens selling o Messrs Bainbridge, Bonnygate.
Ewes with lambs at foot sold to £156 (£312 per outfit) for a pen of Texels with lambs at foot from which was part of the dispersal from Messrs Martin, Townend Farm, Soulby selling to Messrs Bainbridge, Bonnygate, Soulby.
Swaledale ewes with Mule lambs at foot sold to £150 per head (£300 per outfit) from Messrs Hutchinson, Bail Hill, Forest in Teesdale selling to Messrs Wallace, Middleton in Teesdale.
Messrs Sayer, Musgrave House, Great Musgrave sold a pen of Swaledale ewes with Mule lambs at foot to make £150 per life (£300 per outfit)
Messrs Bousfield, Fieldham House, Brough sold a pen of Mule shearlings with twin lambs at foot to make £150 per head (£450 per outfit) selling to Messrs Watson, Penrith. This home also sold a pen of Swaledale ewes with twin lambs at foot to make £142 per head (£426 per outfit).
Messrs Bousfield, Bollam Terrace, Kirkby Stephen sold a pen of Black Cheviot ewes with twin lambs at foot to make £142 per head (£426 per outfit) selling to Messrs Raine & Davidson.
Messrs Wearmouth, Martindale Farm, Crosby Garret sold a pen of Suffolk ewes with twin lambs at foot to make £132 per head (£396 per outfit) selling to Messrs Somerville, Newby.
All sections across the board saw an increased average on the year with shearlings with lambs being up £23.81, ewes with lambs being up £10.50 and hoggs with lambs being up £11.03.
