Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

The weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks took place in Ring 4. A strong sale of 365 were forward, which comprised of 63 bulls, 110 steers and 192 heifers, which sold to average £1385.23.

Bulls were met by some resistance however stirks would see a rise of £50-£60 on the week. Bulls topped at £4700 for a pedigree Charolais from Messrs Quine, Isle of Man. The same home sold a young Limousin bull to £3000. British Blues topped at £1800 from Robin Williamson, Littleburn with Aberdeen Angus bulls to £2080 from Messrs Nixon, Ribton House. Mr Willaim Dunlop, Maybole sold 3 Saler heavy bulls to £1640.

110 steers went on to average £1541.64, topping at £1940 for 2 strong Limousin steers from Craig Johnston, Horsemoor Hills selling 6 to average £1741.67.British Blues sold to £1820 from John Mews for a single steer. The same home sold to £1780 and £1740. Aberdeen Angus steers topped at £1660 for 5 from Messrs Bell, Aigle Gill. Hereford steers topped at £1580 from Messrs Awde, Broadmeadows who sold 19 to average £1356.

192 heifers went on to average £1310.52 and topping this section was a Bazadaise from Messrs Scott, Dinley Farm. This home sold 8 to average £1501.25. Messrs Johnston, Horsemoor sold heifers to £1930. Seth Armstrong, Terrace Farm sold Limousins to £1840 and £1660. Messrs Beaty, Newton Field sold 3 British Blue heifers to £1770.
