Borderway Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 25^th  May Harrison and Hetherington conducted their weekly sale of breeding sheep with lambs and foot, a resounding success with trade outweighing all competitors with vendors quoting £30-40 dearer. A great show was forward with a large number of hoggs.

The show was won by John & Mandy Smith-Jackson, Lipwood with a fantastic pen of Texel X hoggs with Beltex lambs selling to £232 a life. This home averaged £206 for 40 lives. Joint top price went to Messrs Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale with Texel X hoggs and Beltex lambs. This home also sold to £228 and averaged £194 for 86 lives. Winter Brothers, Clickham sold the first prize Suffolks with Texel lambs to £220 a life, with the second prize Suffolks at £215. Messrs Edmondson, High Mansriggs sold a fantastic run of Suffolk Mules to £220 and £210. Messrs Whiteford, Tercrosset sold to £202 for a pen of Suffolk X hoggs & Texel lambs. Mule hoggs topped at £172 x2 from Messrs Hodgson, White House for 1^st and 2^nd prize.

Shearlings and twins sold to £200 and £190 from Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale. Ewes topped at £185 for a 3shr Beltex and lamb. This home also sold to £180 and £160. Messrs Howard, Lees Hall sold to £168 for a trio of Texels.
