Borderway Store Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 3^rd June 2026 Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle.   A smaller entry and sale of 288 Store cattle forward at Borderways weekly sale whereby most definitely a rise was seen on the week with lots more enthusiasm seen around the ringside as buyers frantically bidding for cattle again.  Topping the sale overall was a superb Limousin cross steer from Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna, Dumfries achieving £2580.  Top Aberdeen Angus also was sold by Messrs Moffat to £2450 and Charolais to £2390 for 25 months old.  Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna sold next best at £2320 for over thirty months old.  Dairy bred British Blues sold to £2260 from Messrs Halliday, Broathill, Lockerbie.

Heifers were topped by Messrs Wood, Well Head, Workington with a Limousin cross heifer at £2230.  Charolais crosses to £2230 also from Messrs Halliday, Broathill and Bazadaise to £2190 from Messrs Smith, Sheddock, Newton Stewart.

Yearling steers sold to £2160 for a pen of Limousin crosses from Messrs Wigham, Coldshield, Haltwhistle and to average £2092 for the four steers who travelled west along the A69 along with many others this week, like Messrs Dart, Flothers, Hexham who sold top priced dairy bred animal to £2160 and £2090 for Montbeliardes.  Messrs Mounsey, Wardhall Guards, Wigton sold best Fleckvieh to £1960 and Messrs Fell, Harleycroft, Wigton sold best Holstein Friesian to £1860.

Harrison and Hetherington enjoyed a great sale of 1278 head of livestock through the mart on this first week of June with all sections seeing trade firming on the whole.
