Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

The weekly sale of weaned cattle took place in Borderway in ring 4, with a much

increased show of weaned bulls and stirks with a total of 291  forward with yet again a triple figure showing of weaned bulls.

A total of 105 bulls were forward to average £1378 with a top price going to Messrs Hall, Horsleyhill selling a Limousin bull to £2630. Mark Batty, Westerhouses sold a super pair of Limousin bulls to £2490 and £2460. Angus bulls topped at £1740 for a single for Messrs Vance, Bridgehouse while British Blue bulls topped at £1820 from Messrs Todd, Wyndham. Simmental bulls topped £1570 from Messrs Tallentire, Appleby.

Steers went on to average £1410 with top price for a pair of Limousins from Kilnstown Farm selling to £1860. This run of 17 averaged £1628, selling other pens to £1750, £1690 and £1660. Angus steers topped at £1800 for a pen of six from Messrs Carr, Longtown. The same home sold Blue steers to £1670 for a pen of four. Simmental steers topped at £1400 from Auchengray Farms. Messrs Dixon, West Heddon sold some Holstein Friesian steers to £1650 and £1470.

Heifers topped at £1800 for a Limousin from Messrs Storey, West Auckland while Blue heifers topped at £1790 from Messrs Frost, Wooler.  Messrs Carr, Brackenhill sold Angus heifers to £1740 while Simmentals sold to £1400 from Messrs McConnell, Gass. A section average of £1300 was achieved.
