Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart Held Their Weekly Sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday Evening when 1,789 sheep where forward consisting of 397 Prime Hoggs, 323 Cast Sheep and 1069 Spring Lambs.

Spring lambs

Topping the lambs at £260 (530.6p) was a pair of 49kg Texel cross lambs from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside.

This pair of lambs was bought by Dowding Butchers.

Topping at 595.2p (£250) was a pair of 42kg Beltex cross lams from Messrs Pickard, Cheney House Farm, Leicestershire.

This home also sold a pen of twenty eight 40kg Beltex cross lambs to make £221 (552.5p), and a pen of thirteen 40kg to make £220 (550p). This consignment of 166 Lambs sold to average 40.9kg, 514.1p and £210.56.

Messrs Hill & Wright, Doncaster sold 43kg Beltex cross lambs to make £240 (558.1p) and a pen of four Beltex lambs to 42kg £229 (545.2p). This home also sold Texel cross lambs to £248 for 55kg, and 50kg to £235. This consignment of 61 Lambs sold to average 44.2kg, 482.3p and £213.16.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside sold 47kg Beltex cross lambs to make £237 (504.3p). this home also sold Texel cross lambs to £233 for 50kg. This consignment of 13 Lambs sold to average 48.2kg, 482.1p and £232.54.

Charlotte & Georgia Davies, Top Field Farm, Leicestershire sold a pen of five 43kg Beltex cross lambs to make £236 (548.8p). With other pens of Beltex lambs making £229 (558.5p) for a pen of eleven, £228 for (556.1p) for a pen of sixteen 41kg and £224.50 for a pen of sixteen 40kg (561.3p). This consignment of 59 Lambs sold to average 40.9kg, 551.8p and £225.68.

Suffolk lambs sold to £259 for 64kg from Messrs Jackson, East View, Penrith.

Lucy Shaw, Valley Drive, Bolton sold a pen of three 53kg Suffolk Lambs to make £234 (441.5p).

Messrs Dobinson, Stone View, Darlington sold a pen of four 49kg to make £223 (455.1p).

Messrs Porter, Knock Cross Cottage, Long Marton sold a pair of 56kg Texel prime lambs to make £253.

This home also sold 55kg to make £249.

An SQQ Average of 470.8p/kg was achieved for 1069 Prime Lambs and £195.99.

Prime hoggs topped at £267 for a 76kg Texel cross from Messrs Cleasby, Porthy Green, Appleby.

Messrs Thompson, Fitches Grange, Bishop Auckland sold 70kg Texel cross hoggs to make £244.

Messrs Mark, Sunny Gill, Penrith sold 62kg Texel cross hogs to make £240, with a pen of seven 57kg £238.

Charollais hoggs sold to £241 for a pen of seven 70kg from Messrs Thompson, Fitches Grange, Bishop Auckland.

With this home also selling Charollais hoggs to £240 for seven 62kg, four 61kg at £238, fourteen 61kg at £237.50, six 59kg at £235, twelve 57kg at £229.50, four 55kg at £229 and eight 52kg £220.

This consignment of 90 Charollais & Suffolk cross hoggs sold to average 60kg £233.50 and 389p.

Scotch Blackface sold to £207 for a pen of ten 54kg, another pen of ten 53kg at £206 and a pen of thirteen 49kg £193 from Messrs Mark, Sunny Gill, Penrith

Messrs Dawson, Mount Pleasant Farm, York sold six 48kg Scotch Blackface Hoggs to achieve £187.

Cheviot hoggs sold to £206 for two pens at 53kg and 52kg from the same home. This home also sold eighteen 40kg Cheviots to make £163

Mule hoggs topped at £211 from Messrs Taylor, Waterhouses, Appleby

Cast Ewes

Topping the Cast Ewes was a Texel ewe from Messrs Porter, Knock Cross Cottage which achieved £322.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm sold a Texel cross ewe to make £308.

This home also sold another Texel cross ewe for £290, and also topped the Beltex cross ewes to £290 with another pen of seven to £280.

This consignment of 23 Beltex & Texel cross ewes sold to average £267.71.

Blue Texel ewes sold to £274 from Messrs Fisher, Spittals Farm.

Leicester ewes topped at £220 for a pair from Messrs Coulthard, Bridge End Farm.

A pen of four topped the Cheviot ewes at £201 from Messrs Hall, Lankaber.

This home also topped the Mules at £185 for a pen of seven.

Messrs Handley, Archers Hall topped the Rough ewes at £160 for a pen of ten.

The overall average for 317 Cast Ewes was £170.16.
