Kirkby Stephen Sale of Prime Sheep

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart Held Their Weekly Sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday Evening when 1,637 sheep where forward consisting of 272 Prime Hoggs, 302 Cast Sheep and 1063 Spring Lambs.

Spring lambs

Topping the sale at £260 was a pair of 50kg Beltex cross lambs (520p) from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside.

Topping at 521.4p 42kg Beltex cross lambs £219 Messrs Pickard, Cheney House Farm.

With this home also selling a pen of six 40kg £204 (510p), and a pen of twenty 41kg making £197 (480.5p), and a pen of sixteen 40kg making £195 (487.5p).

This home sold 122 lambs to achieve £191.93 and 473.2p for 40.6kg.

Messrs Sowerby also sold a pair 50kg Texel cross lambs to make £259 (518p). With another pen of 51kg Texel cross lambs making £240 (470.6p)

C&G Davies, Top Field Farm sold 51kg Beltex cross lambs to make £250 (490.2p), Fourteen 40kg at £205 (512.5p), nineteen 40kg at £204.5 (511.3p), and thirteen 40kg at £197 (492.5p).

This home sold 49 lambs to achieve £203.77 and 505p for 40.4kg.

Messrs Scott, Brodgen Farm, Northallerton sold a pen of four 51kg at £234 (459p), and a pen of 48kg at £228 (475p).

Suffolk lambs topped at £237 for 54kg (438.9p) from Messrs Brannen, Scar Top.

Dutch Texel lambs sold to £230 for 51kg (460p) from Messrs Lyle, Staingills, Penrith.

Messrs Blacklidge, Greencroft, Richmond sold a pen of seven 51kg to make £228 (447.1p).

Messrs Richardson, Etherly House, Darlington sold a pen of six 49kg to £225 (459.2p).

Hesket Demain Ltd, Carlisle sold two pens of fourteen 45kg Suffolk cross Mule lambs to achieve £194 (431.1p) & £192 (426.7p).

With the whole sale’s SQQ averaging 431.1p for 1063 spring lambs sold, which is up 57p/kg up on the same week last year.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm sold two Beltex cross ewes to make £328, Texel cross ewes to £305 and another pen of Beltex cross ewes selling for £294.

This home sold thirteen Beltex & Texel cross ewes to average a whopping £283.77!

C&G Davies, Top Field Farm, Leicestershire sold Texel cross ewes to £332 and £330 and Beltex cross ewes to £328 with this consignment of ewes averaging a staggering £307.50!

Messrs Pickard, Leicestershire sold ten Charollais & Texel cross ewes to average £262.40.
