Away out in front are still the very best shaped and heavy weighed bulls selling to a days top of £3952 for a 941kg Limousin cross from Messrs Mckie, High Threave, Newton Stewart selling to C.J. Anderson, Dumfries. Messrs Henshall, Sarkshields, Lockerbie sold 921kg for £3831.36. Messrs Struthers, Collielaw Far, Lanarkshire selling 1000kg for £3820 1054kg Charolais at 31 months old from Middlehouse Farms, Lanarkshire for £3710.08. Simmentals for £3154.64 at 839kg from Messrs Brown, Millmuir, Lanark. Four best bulls sold over £400 with top being 420ppkg for the aforementioned Messers Mckie, High Threave, Messrs Henshalls 921kg for 416ppkg, Messrs Ridley, Haltcliffe, Wigton sold 801kg to 415ppkg and Messrs Proctor, Swarland Old Hall, Morpeth made the worthwhile journey selling 782kg for 410ppkg.
Dairy bulls continue to sell well and saw a top price of £2479.08 for 849ppkg Montebeliarde from Messrs Graham South Lambhill, Longtown from the same home also sold a weighty 887kg Holstein Friesian to £2430.38, Friesians at 716kg from Messrs Mattocks, Aulby, Penrith purchased at £2176.64. A top price per head of 318 went to a 684kg Holstein Friesian from Messrs Inman, Allerbeck, Lockerbie.

PRIME CATTLE : A marvelous entry of 85 prime steers and heifers forward at the Borderway weekly primestock sale, trade without a doubt 10-15 pence sharper on the week for all classes making last weeks sale look under sold. Top seven all were sold over £2800 to a days top of £3091 for 805kg from Messrs Spence, Roberthill, Lockerbie selling to C J Anderson. Messrs Studholme & Son, Nealhouse Farm, Carlisle sold next best at £2952.72 for a 774kg Limousin cross, Charolais to £2921.28 for 816kg from Messrs Stevenson, Lower Langshaw, Lanarkshire. Best British Blue to £2892 for 723kg from Messrs Nicholson, The Lakes, Carlisle this steer was also top price per head at 400 pence, Messrs Blake, Halfway Well, Penrith sold next best at 392 for 678kgs to Pioneer Foods, Carlisle.
Heifers also selling very well with a days top price of £2802.78 for a 677kg Limousin cross from Messrs Story, Newbriggin, Carlisle selling to Mr Eric Hall. Next best was from Messrs Story at £2664.18 for 779kgs £2632 for 658kg and purchased by Steven Wilson Butchers Shop, Corby Hill and Brampton. Messrs Hird, West End, Cockermouth sold two fantastic heifers and topped at £2631.92 for 668kg and selling to R & JP  Mulholland Butchers Shop, Great Orton, Carlisle. Top overall price per head of 418 went to a smart 614kg Limousin cross from Messrs Spence, Roberthill, Lockerbie selling to Pioneer Foods, Carlisle. Newbiggen Farm sold the next best at 414ppkg for 677kg purchased by Mr Eric Hall.
