Borderway Store Cattle Sale

A small entry of 241 Store cattle forward which saw trade strengthening once again with more optimism in the Prime cattle trade finally. 

An overall average of £1911 was seen with steers averaging over £2000, a days top at £2540 went to a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna selling to Frank Towers, Lancaster.  Others to £2500 from Messrs Grice, Newtown, Carlisle.  Dairy bred British Blue to £2280 and £2270 from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna at 18 month old and young Charolais to £2270 from Messrs Kyle, Spout Bank, Brampton.

Heifers met a rip-roaring trade today and sold to £2260 for dairy bred British Blues from Messrs Holliday Newbampton, Wigton, £2240 for Limousins crosses from Messrs Grice, Newtown, £2220 for Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Dart, Flothers, Hexham and finally dairy bred steers sold to £2170 for a Fleckvieh from Messrs Mounsey, Ward Hall Guards, Wigton and to £1900 for a pen of 5 Holstein from Messrs Wood, Challochmun, Newton Stewart.
