Kirkby Stephen prime Sheep Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart Held Their Weekly Sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday Evening when 1571 sheep where forward consisting of 915 Spring Lambs and 656 Cast Sheep.

Spring lambs

Kirkby Stephen bucks the national trend achieving an overall sale average of 410.16p/kg, an SQQ of 417.65p/kg and £181.07 for 915 Spring lambs sold, this being up 20-30p/kg on other markets on the day.

Topping the sale at £249 (498p) was a pair of 50kg Texel cross lambs from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside.

Topping at 547.6p/kg where a pen of 42kg Beltex cross lambs which made £230 from WF&RCM Pickard, Cheney House Farm, Leicestershire.

Messrs Todd, Victoria Cottages, Bishop Auckland sold 52kg Texel cross lambs to £238 (457.7p/kg).

JoJo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York sold 54kg Charollais cross lambs to £231 (427.8p/kg).

This home also sold a pen of three 44kg to make £228 (518.2p/kg), two pens of three 45kg at £225 (500p/kg) and a pair of 43kg at £220 (511.6p/kg).

This home sold 14 lambs to achieve £221.93 and 491.6p for 45.1kg.

GW Lee & Sons, Carkin Moor Farm, Richmond sold 49kg Beltex cross lambs to £228.

Charlotte & Georgia Davies, Top Field Farm sold 43kg Beltex cross lambs to make £226 (525.6p/kg), seventeen 42kg at £203 (483.3p/kg), and fourteen 43kg at £199 (462.8p/kg).

This home sold 38 lambs to achieve £205.76 and 483.6p for 42.6kg.

Messrs Pickard, Cheney House Farm, Leicestershire sold a pair of 43kg Beltex cross lambs to make £219 (509.3p/kg), six 43kg at £215 (500p/kg), fourteen 41kg at £206 (502.4p/kg), twenty one 41kg at £202.50 (493.9p/kg) and twenty 41kg at £198.50 (484.1p).

This home sold 159 lambs to achieve £192.95 and 470.7p for 41kg.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside sold a pen of seven 43kg Beltex cross lambs to £207 (481.4p/kg).

This home also sold a pen of thirteen 49kg Texel cross lambs to achieve £211 (430.6p/kg).

Messrs Morland, Starrah, Kirkby Stephen sold 38kg Beltex cross lambs to £198 (521.1p)

Messrs Edmonson, High Mansriggs, Ulverston sold a pen of five 57kg Suffolk cross lambs to £225 (394.7p).

Messrs Todd, Victoria Cottages, Bishop Auckland sold two pens of 55kg Suffolk cross lambs, a pen of six and a pair, to £220 (400p/kg).

Messrs Blacklidge sold a pen of five 49kg Suffolk cross lambs to 406.1p/kg (£199).

Suffolk cross Mule lambs topped at 402.1p/kg for a pen of twelve 47kg from Hesket Demain Ltd, Carlisle selling for £189.

Sam Senior, Wheatdale Road, Ulleskelf sold 39kg Mule lambs to £140 (359p).

Topping the ewes at £298 was a Texel cross ewe from Messrs Slee, Street House, Penrith. This home also sold a pair of Texel cross ewes to £270.

Hollins View Farm, Kirkby Stephen sold a Texel ewe to £294.

Charlotte & Georgia Davies also sold a Beltex cross ewe to £294, another Beltex cross ewe at £268 and a pair selling to £260. This consignment sold to achieve £253.43.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Appleby In Westmorland sold Texel cross ewes to £280.

Leicester ewes topped at £225 for a pair from Messrs Hodgson, Hill House West, Westgate.

Messrs Bell, Bridge Farm, York sold a pen of nine Half Bred ewes to top at £209.

MLEC&IM Scott, Brogden Farm, Northallerton sold Mule ewes to top at £195 for a pen of fifteen, with another pen of twelve, and a pen of eighteen selling for £190.

This consignment of 80 Mule ewes sold to average a whopping £191.97.

Messrs Brass, Bridge End Farm, Kirkby Stephen also sold Mule ewes to £192.

Messrs Chappelhow, Friendship Farm, Appleby In Westmorland sold a pen of four Mule ewes to £190.

Ryeland ewes topped at £178 from Messrs Barker, Middle Bank End Farm, Appleby.

This home also topped the Scotch Blackface ewes at £164 for a pen of eight.

Swaledale ewes topped at £156 for a pen of seven from Messrs Heron & Sons, Eastfield Farm, Appleby In Westmorland.

Messrs Harker, Murton Hall, Appleby In Westmorland sold a pen of three Swaledale ewes to £151.
