Borderway Store Cattle Sale

One of the smallest shows of the year seen due to the weather and The Great Yorkshire Show, this sale is annually quiet.  Trade on the other hand certainly not and buyers seemed dumbfounded with the trade of cattle seeing yet another lift on the week.  Topping our sale overall was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Grice, Newtown, Carlisle at £2390.  Next best a British Blue from Messrs Halliday, Broathill, Lockerbie at £2370.  Messrs Middleton, Stone House sold their best of £2360.  A pen of three Simmentals at 16 months from Wester Ulston, Jedburgh sold to £2340 and a pen of five Aberdeen Angus topped at £2310 from Messrs Sloan, Stainton House, Carlisle.

The highest priced yearling came from Messrs Tiplady, Red House, Barnard Castle at £2280 for a 12 month old British Blue cross, this consignor averaged at healthy £2233.33 for this run of 12 month old bullocks.

Heifers were also topped by Messrs Grice, Newtown, this time with a Limousin cross at £2330 and £2280 for another.  British Blues from Broathill Farming at £2270 and 16 month old British Blue crosses from Messrs Lockhart, Fauldingcleugh, Lockerbie sold to £2240.

Dairy bred cattle peaked at £2170 for one from a run of Montbeliardes from Messrs Beaty, Stonewalls, Carlisle.
