Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

A much larger show of cattle forward in ring 4 this week with 272 on offer which again within the sale contained over 100 bulls. A total sale average of £1281.29 was achieved with cattle forward starting to show signs of the dry weather. 

Bulls topped at £2120 for a single Limousin bull from John Thompson, Penrith. Angus bulls topped at £1810 from Messrs Raven, Wigton. Herefords topped at £1760 for a pair from Messrs Jackson, Lockerbie. Simmental bulls topped at £1560 from Messrs Farrar, Carlisle. Charolais bulls topped at £1840 from Messrs Graham, Canonbie.

Steers topped at £1900 for a single Limousin steer from Messrs Wigham, Park Burnfoot who also sold to £1760 and £1640. Messrs Routledge, Kirklinton sold Shorthorn steers to £1700 as did Simmental steers £1700 from Messrs Cadzow, Tranent.  Angus steers sold to £1890 from Messrs Armitstead, Lockerbie. 

Heifers topped at £1890 from Messrs Mandale, Raughton Head who sold a great run of 16 going to average £1421. Limousin heifers topped at £1870 from Messrs Murchie, Canonbie. Angus heifers topped at £1480 from Messrs Holliday, Brampton for a strong pair. 120 heifers went on to average £1214 with vendors delighted with the day’s trading.
