Borderway Store Cattle Sale

As numbers climb so does the trade.  Borderway sold 432 store cattle this week and an even better trade achieved this week compared to last week’s flyer.

Topping the sale overall was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Grice, Newtown, Carlisle at £2760.  Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown sold best Aberdeen Angus cross at £2540.  Charolais to £2440 from Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna and British Blue Crosses to £2380 from Messrs Slack, Cockleybank, Brampton.  A young 16 month old British Blue cross steer from Messrs Lockhart, Fauldingcleuch, Lockerbie sold to £2370.

Heifers were an absolute flyer with a days top of £2530, £2490, £2440 and £2430 all for 16 month old Limousin crosses from Messrs Garthwaite, Wyseby Hill, Lockerbie.  Best British Blue cross was a first cross heifer from Messrs Graham, Carleton Hill, Carlisle at £2400. A 15 month old Charolais cross from Messrs MacDonald, Ladyhousesteads, Canonbie sold to £2360.

Dairy bred cattle sold to £1930 for a Holstein Friesian from Messrs Mitchell, Grassknop, Penrith and Friesians to £1820 from Messrs Donald, Lamonby Hall, Penrith.  Holstein Friesian heifers from Messrs Dickinson, High House, Wigton sold to £1800.
