Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

PRO CROSS DIPSERSAL AVERAGES OVER £3000

The dispersal of the Shenrick, Pro-Cross dairy herd owned by Ian and Liz Burgoyne attracted buyers from across the UK where trade topped at 3,800gns on several occasions to average over £3000 per life.  This outstanding  Pro-Cross dairy herd impressed at all levels, with high production, fertility, herd health and genetics ticking the boxes for buyers.

The herd had a rich history going back to 1969 when it was established, firstly as a well known British Friesian herd.  Holstein genetics were introduced in the 80’s and a high production Holstein herd was developed.  In 2000 the first Montbeliarde genetics were used followed by the Norwegian Red and since then the three way cross has been used successfully.

Milking cows were in strong demand with many giving 35kgs or more. Several topped at 3,800gns, the first was a  standout cow freshly calved in her fourth lactation and giving close to 50kgs. She was sired by VR Vimo a well-known Swedish Red sire and was bred from a Montbeliarde bred dam sired by Maserati.

Also selling for 3,800gns was a Fleckvieh bred cow in her third lactation.  She was sired by Wildnis and was bred from a Holstein dam sired by Sahara Baloo.  She was giving 42gs and was due again to the Limousin in April

Milking heifers topped at 3,700gns for Flora, she was sired by Augustus Red and was bred from a Norwegian Red dam sired by Gopollen.  She had calved last November and was due again to the Montbeliarde sire, Trader for December.

The quality of the milking heifers was incredible with the overall average coming to £3243 with several heifers selling for 3,600gns including Janice.  She was freshly calved in June and was sired by the impressive Swedish Red sire Hakin and was bred from a Montbeliarde bred dam sired by Ilax.
