Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

A larger entry of weaned bulls and stirks were forward  in ring 4 with an increased entry of weaned bulls that sold to average £1531.45 with over 20% of the sale selling for £2000 or more. Messrs Quinne from Isle of Man topped the sale with a 24 month old Pedigree Limousin bull selling for £4800 to M/s Carlyle, Longtown. The same home sold a 24 month old Charolais bull to £3500. Commercial bulls topped at £2490 from M/s Wight, Melrose. Blue bulls topped at £1830 from M/s Ritchie, Carlisle. Angus Bulls topped at £1490 from M/s Ivinson, Wigton.

Steers went on to average £1391 with top price going to an Angus steer from M/s Armitstead, Lockerbie selling to £2080. The same home also sold Angus steers to £2000, £1920 and £1820. M/s Walker, Egremont sold Limousin steers to £1880. Hereford topped at £1570 from Alan Hodge, The Grove. M/s Walker, also sold Blue Steers to £1730. Charolais steers topped at £1750 from Craig Routledge, Netherton for a superb pair. Dairy bred steers topped at £1480 for a Montbeliarde steers from M/s Bowman, Wigton.

Heifers topped at £1720 for some Charolais again from M/s Routledge, Netherton. Blues topped at £1520 from M/s Hall, Haltwhistle. M/s Hodge, The Grove sold Limousin heifers to £1690.  M/s Armitstead, also sold Angus heifers to £1670.
