WARNELVIEW IMPACT TOPS AUTUMN BULL SALE

The 38th Annual Autumn Bull sale held on behalf of the Border & Lakeland Holstein Club had attracted a superb consignment of Holstein and British Friesian bulls from across the UK all excelling in production and type.  Buyers from across the UK saw trade top at 7,500gns with the overall average coming to £3804 with bulls going to milk producers in England, Scotland and Wales.

The show was sponsored by Aspatria Farmers and judged professionally by Peter Waring from Winton Holsteins in Yorkshire.  He selected Warnelview R Impact as his overall Champion bull, he was consigned by Kevin & Christine Wilson from Thursby, Carlisle.  Impact was sired by Rager Red and bred from six Excellent dams all with massive lifetime production.  The standout cow in his pedigree was his third dam; she produced over 100 ton in her lifetime and is currently a 9-Star Brood Cow.

The Warnelview Herd sold eleven bulls from their best cow families to average £4211.  One of the stars in this special consignment was the Production Champion, Warnelview Ninja who sold for 5,000gns.  He was sired by Duckett Diesel, his dam is a special young cow sired by Unix who produced 12807kg at 4.96% butterfat and 4.13% protein.  Grand dam was the herd icon Warnelview Final Cut Nita who classified EX97 and produced over 170 ton lifetime.

Winning the Senior bull class and going on to sell for 5,200gns, was Annandale Dumbledore who was consigned by the Armour family from Moffat.  Dumbledore was bred from an amazing line of high production cows, his dam produced over 130 ton of milk with many of her lactations being over 15,000kgs. 

The Champion British Friesian title went to Winnoch Rodeo who was consigned by the Brocket family from Renfrewshire and was Overall Reserve Champion.  Rodeo was sired by Winnoch Navy Seal and was bred from four generations of Superior Production award winners.  His dam produced over 10,000kgs with high butterfat and protein and went on to sell for 3,200gns.       

The Whinnow herd owned by the Blamire family from Thursby Carlisle had the Reserve Champion British Friesian bull who sold for 4,200gns.  Whinnow Promise was sired by Inch Mint and was bred from the Priscilla cow family that originated at Lismulligan.   He ranked high on the genomic British Friesian list with a GPLI+£224.  

The next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on Wednesday 23rd September and features 260 Pedigree Holstein dairy cattle in Border & Lakeland Club sale which also includes a special Youngstock Production sale for the Brownfield Holstein herd.  On Wednesday 30th September the complete dispersal of the Barledziew Holstein herd takes place at Borderway featuring 274 pedigree Holstein cattle.  Catalogues for these sales can be viewed online at www.harrisonandhetherington.co.uk or can be order from the Pedigree Office 01228 406230
