Borderway Latter Fair Gimmer Lamb Sale

On Thursday 17^th September, Harrison & Hetherington conducted the sale of mule gimmer lambs in the Borderway “Latter Fair” Sale, whereby a quality show was forward.

Trade was flying for all sections, with more running lambs forward this year.  The first prize pen of 10 pen of Mules went to John & Mandy Smith-Jackson, Lipwood for a fantastic consignment. This home also topped the trade at £420 to the Judge Messrs Fenemore, Manor Grove. The same home also sold the first prize pen of 20, sold to £320. This run averaged £286.17 for 93.

Messrs Ridley, Woodhall brought their usual quality consignment, taking 2^nd prize pen of 10 and sold to average £209.54 for 327. Messrs James Mid Todhills topped at £300 after taking 3^rd prize in the pen of 10’s.

The annual consignment from Messrs Kyle, Spoutbank sold to a top of £245 and averaged £183 for 804 lambs forward.

Messrs Smith, Mount Farm topped at £250 and averaged £221. Long time supporters Messrs Gass, Nunscleugh sold to a top of £265 with their bonny run of lambs averaging £188.35 for 446 forward.

Setting the trade off was a smart run of lambs from Messrs Foster, Coombe Crag topping at £260 for the 4^th prize pen and averaged £202.30 for 152. Messrs Telford, High Parkfoot sold to a top of £235, averaging pennies short of £190.

Messrs Kerr, Nether Oakshaw sold to £200 and average £170.62 with Messrs Whitfield, Batey Shield also topping at £200and averaged £170.58 for 119.

Continental gimmer lambs topped at £205 for Beltex x Suffolks from Messrs Dempster, Castle Garth. This home averaged £186. Messrs Errington, Hunley sold Dutch Spotted to £200 and averaged £175. Messrs Dean, Talkinhead sold Suffolk x Mules to £190 averaging £176.15. Messrs Halliday, Linnhead sold Beltex x lambs to £180.

Overall a fantastic trading was witnessed in Borderway.
