On Monday 21^nd September Harrison and Hetherington held its annual Ram Bonanza. Trade was flying from the get-go with demand strongest for the biggest tups. Champion in the pre-sale show went to the 1^st prize Dutch Texel from Messrs Ryder, Hammerlands. This sold to joint top price of the day at £2600 to Judge Ben Moralee, Hard Riding Farm. We thank him for his expertise in undertaking the judging duties this morning. Thanks, must also go to our sponsor James Delargy Farm Supplies. Also at £2600 was a Dutch Texel from Messrs Pyman, Parkview. This home also sold to £1400 x3 and £1300 x2. Messrs Wigham, Park Burnfoot topped at £2400 with others to £1500. The annual consignment of Texel tups from Messrs Toppin, Bascodyke created great interest topping at £2100 and £1700 x2. This home averaged £995 for 42 shearlings and ram lambs. The Reserve Champion ticket went to Messrs Priestly, Cracrop for a fantastic Texel x Beltex shearling. This sold to £1600 with others to £1300 and £1100 x3. Messrs Mulholland, Great Orton topped at £1600 for a strong Beltex shearling. Beltex Tup lambs sold to £650 from Jamie Fallows, Cockrig. Suffolk shearlings topped at £1100 x2 from Messrs Steel, Lesson Hall. Messrs Hewson, Burgh Head sold Suffolk lambs to £950. Charollais tups topped at £880 for a natural shearling from Messrs Cheeseborough, Lane Head. Berrichon shearlings sold to £750 from Messrs Powell, Springwood Lodge.

The September Sheep Fair of breeding females sold to £275 for a pen of Texel Mule shearlings from Messrs Houldey, Kirtleton House. Messrs Putt, Branteth topped at £250 for Texel cross shearlings. Beltex topped at £265 and £245 for shearling from Messrs Powell, Springwood Lodge. Ewe lambs sold to £240 for 3 pure Charollais from Messrs Cheesebrough, Lane Head.

Breeding sheep also met keen demand, with Texel ewes topping at £275 for Houldey, Kirtleton House, Beltex ewes reaching £265 for Powell, Springwood Lodge, and Charollais ewe lambs selling to £240 for Cheesebrough, Lane Head Farm.
