Kirkby Stephen Store Lamb Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd Kirkby Stephen held their fortnightly sale of store and gimmer lambs when a catalogued entry of 2,000 were on offer. 

Topping the sale at £310 was a Beltex cross lamb from Messrs Beveridge, Low West House Farm, Bishop Aukland, this home also sold a pair of Beltex cross lambs to make £300 with other pens from this home selling to make £250.

Our pre sale show was judged by Brian Phillips, Bridge Close, Northallerton who awarded the first prize rosette to a pen of ten Beltex cross lamb from Messrs Beveridge, which sold for £250. Messrs Beveridge sold a further eight pens of Beltex cross lambs to make over £220 with Blue Texel cross lambs from this home selling to make £244.

The consignment of 336 lambs from this home sold to average £200.25.

Messrs Marston, Easegill Head, Kirkby Stephen sold their consignment of Beltex cross store lambs to top at £230 with a pair also making £226 and a further two pens selling for £220. The consignment of 64 lambs from this home sold to average £192.89.

Messrs Robson, Middle Horselyhope Farm, Consett sold a pen of five Beltex cross lambs to make £220 with this home also selling a pen of five Suffolk cross lambs to make £220.

Mule lambs sold to £127 for a pen of sixteen from Messrs Hayton, Asby Grange, Great Asby.

Messrs Hodgson & Bissell, Park House Farm, Ravenstonedale sold a pen of twenty four mule lambs to make £121.50.

19 pens and 81 lambs sold between £220 and £310

47 pens and 270 lambs sold between £200 and £310.

885 Beltex cross lambs sold to average a whopping £181.82 which is up £18.10 on the year, with an overall sale average for all breeds of £166.84 being achieved which is up £36.24 up on the year.
