SALE OF STORE CATTLE
TUESDAY 6th October 2026
Tuesday 6th of October, Middleton in Teesdale market conducted its Show & Sale of Store cattle which included the sale of the young farmers summering competition. A catalogued entry of 85 were forward and met a strong trade for all classes. A BIG thank you goes to all our vendors for once again supporting the sale & supporting both our regular vendors as well as the next generation of farmers in our calf competition. Before the sale our show took place with this year’s judge Mr William Miller, Wigton undertaking the honours. Taking the top honours this year went to JC & J, White, Rigg farm selling his champion Limousin steer to £2420. The same home sold steers to £2280 for a British Blue and £1880. Messrs Bell, The Pry sold a pair of Limousin steers to £2200. Luing steers topped at £1580 from Paul & Ryan Johnson, Herdship, this home also topped the Heifers selling a flashy red Limousin to £2500. James Thompson, Howburn also sold £2200.
Onto the Young Farmers competition which was kindly Judged by William Miller who awarded the championship to the first prize Heifer shown by Mr Dexter Winspear, York which later went on to sell for £3100. This heifer also took the greatest Margin giving him £1080 to add to his bank account. The reserve champion was awarded to Adam Thompson selling his Heifer to £2000. A great day was had with vendors once again delighted with the day’s trading.
