BARLEDZIEW DISPERSAL SALE

PEDIGREE POWER & PERFORMANCE PEAK AT BARLEDZIEW DISPERSAL
The Vance family who farm at Low Barledziew Farm in the South West of Scotland had developed an outstanding Holstein herd, a modern gem that combined high production, excellent type and superb health traits. Strong demand for all the various categories of stock throughout the herd saw trade top at 5,800gns with the milking herd averaging close to £3000. Volume buyers from Cheshire, Wales and Norfolk had a quality offering to select from, the ring at Borderway was packed with friends and family of the Vance family with a large percentage of animals traveling to back to Scotland. In total buyers from 22 counties across the United Kingdom were recorded on the buyers list with the overall average per life coming close to £2600 per life.
The impressive catalogue was packed with pedigree power and topping the sale at 5,800gns was a special young cow that had it all. Barledziew Fuel Amy was a second lactation cow and classified VG88 3yr old just one point from maximum. She was sired by Melarry Fuel and was due again to Have No Fear for next spring. She was bought by the Mairs from Townhead Farm near Dumfries.
The dam of this impressive young cow sold at the start of the sale milking in her fifth lactation and went on to sell for 3,900gns to Crossfell Holsteins. She was, Warnelview Crushabull Amy and had recently classified Excellent 95 for the third time. She is the highest classified daughter of Crushabull in the UK. She was preceded by three Excellent 94 pointed cows all with massive lifetime production. Her April born heifer calf sired by Mystique Animation topped the heifer calves selling for 3,600gns to the Dalling family from Lanarkarkshire.
The Mair family also bought Barledziew Rubicon Ash for 4,500gns. She was sired by Rubicon and had recently classified Very Good 86 points having calved back in May. She was due again in May to Dropbox, her pedigree traces back to a cracking line of Very Good classified cows from the Kirtlevale herd near Gretna. Her dam sold earlier in the sale for 4,050gns, she was sired by Chief and was dry due with her third in November.
Daughters of Rubicon attracted strong bidding with Barledziew Rubicon Hope selling for 4,000gns selling to Stu Forshaw. She was fresh in July in her second and was producing over 50kgs, she was bred form the famous Hope family going back to Scotland’s Premier Holstein herd, Boclair Holsteins.
Modern breeding was at the heart of the herd success and selling for 4,300gns was a daughter of Progenesis Pattern. Barledziew Pattern Candy had recently classified Very Good 85 as a two year old and was a grand daughter of Barledziew Shottle Candy EX96 with the cow family tracing back to an imported cow from the Oak Ridges herd from Canada. Shottle Candy was the most famous cow to be bred from the Barledziew herd, she was the first daughter of Shottle to classify Excellent 96 gaining her and the Barledziew herd much attention. This special Shottle daughter went on to be a prolific transmitter with over 50 Candy’s featuring throughout this special dispersal.
Milking heifers averaged £3161, Barledziew Rubicon Marion sold for 4,100gns and Barledziew Holysmokes Girl sold for 4,000gns. Girl was bred from an Excellent 93 pointed dam tracing back to the Carnduff herd in Lanarkshire. Her heifer calf sired by Lamborghini sold for 2,400gns.
Heifer calves averaged almost £2000, they were well developed and displayed enormous potential. Barledziew Chase Adeen sold for 3,100gns to the Yates family from Meikle Firthhead, Castle Douglas. She was bred from a special line of the Adeen family. Muirside Farm bought several classy heifer calves including Barledziew Lamborghini Betty for 3,000gns. Her dam was a fancy young cow by Lambda at the close of her second lactation, she sold for 3,350gns and was bred from an Excellent 94 classified dam that gave over 100 ton in her lifetime.
In Calf heifers were in strong demand averaging almost £3000 and topped at 3,850gns for Barledziew Holysmokes Lila Z who was bought by the Mitchell family from Ayrshire. She goes back to the million dollar Lila Z and was due in January. Two other in calf heifers by Holysmokes sold for 3,700gns, one form the Candy family and one form the Snowdrop line.
