Borderway Store Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 14^th October H+H conducted their weekly sale of store cattle.

A good entry of 550 forward cattle met with a particularly strong trade. Overall quality was below expectations, with a significant proportion of cattle presented straight off the grass and showing limited evidence of supplementary feeding. A larger number of heifers were also forward, many of which lacked size for their age. Despite the variable quality on offer, trade for these classes was exceptionally strong, with prices reflecting the keen demand for the cattle presented.

Topping at £2,650 was a forward Simmental steer from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae.  Messrs Black, Kildarroch, sold a cracking Aberdeen Angus bullock to £2,580. This home also sold a further two to £2,490 and a pair of Limousins to £2,400.  Beef Shorthorns sold to £2,490 from Greenwrae Farm. Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, sold a tremendous Charolais bullock to £2,460.

Messrs Black, East Kildarroch, topped the heifers for a Limousin at £2,590. Millantae Farms sold to £2,470 for a Blue heifer. Messrs Ritchie, Croftheads, sold to £2,380 for a Limousin heifer.

George Rome, Nivenhill, sold a Limousin heifer to £2,340.

All classes continue to be in big demand at Borderway. Take advantage of Wednesday’s trade.
