ROSIE TOPS AT MIDDLE AYRSHIRE SALE

The Whiteford family from Middle Farm near Brampton sold an outstanding group of cows from their impressive Ayrshire and Red & White herd.  Years of expertise and astute breeding decisions that have combined the best of the Ayrshire and Red & White breeds was clear for all buyers to see.  The uniformity and consistency from lot 1 to the final heifer was remarkable with exceptional rumps and strong toplines, the strength of the feet and legs was at a high level, and the quality of the udders was amazing. 

Buyers from across England Scotland and Wales packed the ringside at Borderway with prices topping at 4,600gns with the overall average for cows and heifers coming to £2738 with a large percentage of the sale selling for £3000 or more.   

Topping the sale at 4,600gns was Middle Rosie who was bought by Mr Tinker from Wentworth.  This impressive young cow had recently classified VG85, she was sired by Whiteflat King Marty and was due again in April. 

Another young cow that caught the eye of many bidders was Middle Dora Yup who sold for 4,000gns to Phil Manning from Shropshire.  She was sired by Horseclose Yuppie and had recently calved in her third and was giving oceans of milk.

 In total 94 heifers in milk sold the most ever offered from Middle farm with the best topping at 3,500gns on two occasions.  The first was for Middle Elkin TSS GP84 who was bought by Phil Manning from Shropshire.  She was sired by Troutbeck Show Stopper and had recently calved giving over 40kgs.

Also selling for 3,500gns was Middle Jean Cal 3 VG85 who was bought by Mr Tinker from Wentworth.  She was sired by Cuthill Towers Calcutta and was bred from three generations of Excellent or Very Goods.
