Kirkby Stpehen Luke Fair Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their annual ‘Luke Fair’ sale of store cattle on Monday.

The sale topped at £2700 for a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Kitson, Five Houses Farm Shop, Yarm, with another Limousin cross heifer from this home making £2590 and another Limousin cross heifer making £2500

Steers topped at £2650 for a Limousin also from Messrs Kitson.

Messrs Taylor, Gilts, Crosby Ravensworth sold a pair of eighteen month old Limousin cross heifers to make £2590 selling to Messrs Malone, Fife. British Blue cross heifers from this home sold to make £2530.

Messrs Hughes, Dona Close, Asby British Blue cross steers to make £2590 with a seventeen month old Limousin cross steers also making £2590 selling to Messrs Medd, Scarborough.

Messrs Maughan, Ash Garth, Great Asby sold Limousin steers to make £2580 selling to Taylors Farm Shop, Ormskirk with British Blue steers selling to £2550.

Messrs Maughan, Woodfoot, Crosby Ravensworth sold a seventeen month old Limousin cross steers to make £2580 with others making £2550, £2540 and £2520 for a seventeen month old.

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside Sold seventeen month old Limousin cross steer to make £2510.

Nice bred young cattle were also good to sell with a fourteen month old Limousin cross heifer making £2420 from Messrs Taylor, Waterhouses, Asby also Messrs Sedgley, Low Bank House, Barbon sold an eleven month old Limousin cross steer to make £2350 with a twelve month old Limousin cross steer making £2170. Messrs Batty, Dry Evers sold 13 month old Limousin cross steers to make £2220.

40 cattle sold between £2400-£2700

133 cattle sold between £2200-£2700

Steers averaged £2151.26 and heifers averaged £2076.33.
