Borderway Store Cattle Sale

A good entry of 501 store cattle were forward and sold at Borderway’s weekly sale, where trade remained firm throughout with strong demand for all classes. Better-fleshed cattle were met with an even sharper trade compared to recent weeks, and it was pleasing to see both new and returning vendors taking advantage of the Borderway store cattle ring.

Topping the sale at £2,700 was an outstanding British Blue-cross heifer from Messrs Holliday & Graham, Bolton Wood Lane, Wigton, who also sold Limousin-cross heifers to £2,410. Steers sold to £2,500 for a strong Simmental-cross from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna, with a cracking Limousin-cross steer reaching £2,500 for a 14-month-old entry from Messrs Chappelhow, High Grounds, Penrith. British Friesian steers sold to £2,140 from Messrs Moscrop, Ryeclose, Carlisle.

The strong demand seen throughout the sale suggests that many more cattle could be sold to vendors' advantage at Borderway. If you are considering marketing store cattle, please do not hesitate to give us a try.
