At Borderway Mart on Monday 5th March, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store hoggs and breeding sheep.
Store Sheep – A small entry of store hoggs were forward at the weekly sale, attracting a large ringside of buyers. Top price of the day went to a pen of Beltex hoggs from Messrs RB & RAG Irving, Anthorn Farm, Wigton selling to £85 per head. Followed by Texels selling to £84 from Messrs A & W Armstrong, Lanehead Farm, Brampton.
Leading prices: Beltex £85 Anthorn Farm, Texel £84 Lanehead Farm, £77.50, £75 (x2), £73 Anthorn Farm, £73 Mosergh Farm, Blue Texel £75, £74.50, £70 Gass Farm, Charolais £67 Long Park, North Country Cheviot £66.50 Gass Farm, £59 Barrhill Avenue, Suffolk £65 Lanehead Farm, Greyfaced £50, £48 Mosergh Farm.
Breeding Sheep – A small consignment of breeding sheep attracted a great enquiry selling to £128 for a pen of inlamb Texel ewes from W & M Haining, High Drum.
With an increasing demand for ewes and lambs, more are required next week to fulfil buyer requirements.
