The Simmental Cattle Society Leading Ladies show & sale held at Carlisle on Friday saw Jim & Patricia Goldie’s maiden heifer Newbiemains Izzie sell for the top price of 6200gns. Sired by Woodhall Fantastic 14 and out of Newbiemains Dizzie this heifer was purchased by Richard McCulloch for his Overhill House herd.

Richard was responsible for the second best lady when he sold his heifer, Overhill House Indi for 6000gns. Indi, sired by Caraheen Drifter was purchased by Jim & Patricia Goldie.

The Leading Ladies Champion went to WJ Hollingsworth’s Midhope Holy Light who went on to sell for 5000gns. This in calf heifer sired by Delfur Chas was purchased by B & S Grant to join their Dellfield herd based near Inverness.

In the bulls a top price of 3800gns was achieved twice, first for the Overall Male Champion Corskie Hadden from WJ & J Green. This son of 45,000gns Bel Dhu Capercaillie is out of Corskie Edna and was purchased on the day by RC Robinson from Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

The next bull in to the ring Chestermann Horatio sold for the same money. Consigned by N & N Gwynne this bull sired by Overhill House Data and out of Chestermann Ringleader Natalie was knocked down to Palmallet Farm Ltd, Newton Stewart.

Also from N & N Gwynne and by the same sire was the Reserve Male Champion Chesterman Harold who was purchased for 3400gns by A Lindsay & Co, Auchencairn.
1st prize in the senior bull class went to David Lowry’s Keeldrum Hercules. This son of Kilbride Farm Warren went on to sell for 3200gns to R McKinnel & Sons from Whithorn.
Matching this when also selling for 3200gns was Mrs Trafford’s Rooklea Heart of Gold who was purchased by Messrs Trotter from Kelso.
