Lockerbie Main Sale of North Country Cheviot Hill Rams

On Wednesday Lockerbie Mart hosted the annual show and sale of North Country Cheviot Hill rams.

Topping the sale at £9000 and equaling the centre record achieved last year was Linhope Farming Partnership, Hartside, Powburn with lot 14 Hartside Hill Vettel a Whitehope Phantom sired two-shear ram. This ram was purchased by Messrs JM Elliot and partners, Woodside, Kelso.

The same home also sold the second top of the day at £4500. This was lot 13 a Langdale Pedro sired two-shear which sold to Bowmont Farming Ltd, Kelso.

Kelsocleugh Farming, Yetholm sold lot 261 a Bedshiel Rockall sired two-shear at £4200 to Messrs R & S Flintoff, Yetholm.

Two rams sold for £4000, the first of these was lot 50 Newbank Vintage, sired by Rawbank Rock and consigned by Messrs M & S Wilson, Beattock. He was another to be purchased by Bowmont Farming Ltd, Kelso.

Messrs Wilson decided to reinvest their £4000 when they then purchased lot 195 for the same money. Hethpool Vandal sired by Hartside Hill Rhino was consigned by Messrs W & F Elliot, Hethpool, Wooler.

A total of 257 rams averaged £861.95 (-£175.86) for 33 more sold on the year.
