Carlisle Christmas Poultry Sale

On Saturday 22nd December, Harrison & Hetherington Limited, Carlisle held their annual Christmas poultry sale of dressed birds.

An entry of 251 lots were presented to a large ringside of buyers ensuring a buoyant trade for all classes.

The top price of the day was £80 for a 16.7kg Turkey which was donated by Mr Malcolm Walt in aid of the charity Great North Air Ambulance.  The nest leading price tag was for a 8.5kg Turkey offered by Messrs Holburn which sold for £75.

The selection of Geese on offer topped at £50 on two occasions for a 6.5kg and a 6.7kg shown by Messrs Soulsby.

Ducks secured a leading price of £22 for a 2.7kg bird exhibited by Messrs Ritson and the Chickens on offer realised a top price of £20 for a 3.7kg bird shown by Messrs Miller.
