The annual North Country Cheviot in lamb show and sale held at Lockerbie Market saw a world record price of £4500 for a North Country Cheviot female set by Messrs W & J Thomson, Hownam Grange with a superb ewe hogg which sold to Mr James Burton, Ilam, Ashbourne. This hogg had won Reserve Supreme Champion in the pre-sale show and was sired by Synton Vanish whose sire was the last son of the Duke who was out of Magic who won 8 Breed Championships including Interbreed and Breed Champion at both the Royal Highland and the Great Yorkshire Shows.

The Supreme Champion sheep came from Messrs Graham, Carruthers with a gimmer sired by Wester Rocket Soutra Tiger which sold for £1000 to the judge Mr D Beech, Ormerley, Derby. Messrs Graham also sold their 3rd prize winning hogg by Philiphaugh Tam O Shanter for £1000 again purchased by the judge.

At £1800 was the 2nd prize winning Kinaldy gimmer from Mr G Milne which sold to Alan Cowan, Philiphaugh Estates, Selkirk.

The dispersal of the renowned Ericstane flock from Mrs Jane Jackson, Ericstane, Moffat saw a top of £2000 for a ewe hogg which sold to Mr R McCulloch, Hillhouse. This hogg was sired by Carruthers Vice President who was purchased at Lockerbie in 2017 for £3000.
A gimmer from the same home, sired by £4800 Wandylaw Perfection, sold for £1800 also to Mr McCulloch. Ewes sold from Ericstane sold to at top of £400(x2).

An overall average of £452.63 per head including the dispersal animals was achieved for the 170 head forward.
Averages – 13 Ewes £394.62; 16 Gimmers £555.00; 16 Ewe Hoggs £678.75;
Ericstane Flock 90 Ewes £183.46; 32 Gimmers £368.33; 3 Ewe Hoggs £973.33
