On Monday 25th March Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep which once again saw a small select show of store hoggs forward with very good demand from start to finish seeing all vendors leaving highly delighted. Top price of the day of £70 was hit twice, firstly by Messrs Mair, Hill Farm, Ayrshire for a pen of 24 Texel X store hoggs and secondly for a Bleu Du Maine X ram from Messrs Bell, Holmewrangle, Carlisle.

Texel £70, £67.50 Hill Farm, £69.50, £67.50 (x2), £66.50, £58 Dacre Bank, £66, £64.50 Eden Gate Holme, £61, £60.50 Barrhill Avenue Bleu Du Maine £70, £63 (x2) Holmewrangle.
BREEDING SHEEP: Following the store hoggs a much larger show of ewes and lambs were forward on the week seeing a very busy ringside of buyers which ensured an average of £76.32 for all 489 lives.
Top price was for a pen of Texel X ewes with single lambs at foot from Messrs Jenkinson, Clifton Moor, Penrith peaking the sale at £90.50, with their run going on to sell at £86.50 and £85 and twins up to £83 a life or £249 per unit; this tremendous consignment of 257 lives then went on to average £78.60.
Top price per unit was for a pen of tremendous 2 shear Suffolk X ewes with Continental twin lambs at foot from Messrs Brough, Clappers, Aspatria realising £83.50 per life or £250.50 per unit.
