Kirkby Stephen May Beef Breeding Sale

Harrison & Hetherington, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their annual May Sale of Beef Breeding cattle when a catalogued entry of 400 cattle were on offer.

Topping the sale at £3800 was the Overall Champion, a 5 year old Limousin cross cow with Limousin cross heifer calf from Messrs Hird, Crackpot Farm, Richmond which was bought by Messrs Dalton, Barnard Castle.

The pre sale show was kindly judged by Andrew & Will Robinson, Barnard Castle who awarded the Reserve Championship to a 6 year old British Blue cross cow with Limousin cross bull calf at foot which sold for £3650 from Messrs Armstrong, Crossfell House, Milburn selling to Messrs Harrison, Sleddale Hall.

Trade throughout the sale was flying with a packed ringside of buyers being in attendance.

An overall sale average for cows and heifers with calves was £2150.65 with a third of these being cows with calves at foot.

Many buyers left empty handed and plenty more outfits could have easily been well sold.
