Borderway Store & Weanling Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 939 head of cattle at their Weekly Wednesday sale consisting of 511 catalogued store cattle, un-entered store bulls and stirks 301 calves and 127 dairy cattle in the Borderway Monthly Dairy day.

STORE CATTLE – A smaller offering of 342 store cattle forward with all classes far dearer to that of previous weeks with bullocks selling to a top of £1270 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith and £1260 from Messrs Grice, Newtown, Carlisle.  British Blues to £1220 from Messrs Routledge, Old Silloth, Wigton.  Heifers as always very easily sold and peaked at £1240 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Grice, Newtown, Carlisle.  British Blues to £1170 from Messrs Edgar, Flatt and Messrs Kellet, White House Farm and Charolais crosses to £1130 from Messrs Bowman, Scalehouses.

Black and white steers peaked at £990 from Messrs Roddam, Fordlands and £930 for another from Messrs Simpson, Waingate Head.

WEANED CATTLE: A small show of 168 weanlings were forward with a large ring side of regular and new buyers at Borderway.  Messrs Graham, Heatherside sold three outstanding Limousin bulls for £1210, £1090 and £1070 for 12 month old bulls.  Messrs Burrow, Lodge Farm, run of Blue bulls topped at £1060.  Messrs Eve, Stubbstill run of Limousin bulls topped at £1050, £1010 and £1000 for 11 to 12 months of age.  Messrs Thompson, Edenbank sold a Limousin x bullock for £1100.
