A large crowd attended the 102nd Great Annual Prize Show and Sale of Registered Swaledale Rams & Ram Lambs at Middleton in Teesdale Auction Mart on Wednesday 9th October to witness an exceptional show of Swaledale Rams.
Despite the uncertainty facing the sheep industry trade was brisk from start to finish, and although buyers remained selective, well bred sheep with strength, character and quality met a strong demand throughout the sale and all classes showed a rise in average price on the year with Shearling Rams over £250 up on the year.
Credit must got to all consignors for the strength and quality of the sheep on offer, ensuring that this sale grows in popularity every year.
The Overall Champion was awarded to Lot 77 consigned by Messrs DC&KL Hutchinson, Old Spittal which went on to make £9000.
